A 17-year-old boy from Bend was arrested Thursday on suspicion of possessing child pornography, Bend Police said Friday. Detectives are trying to find out if there are local victims, in part because the suspect was employed at a local trampoline park.
Bend Police Communications Manager Shelia Miller said the arrest came after a National Center for Missing and Exploited Children CyberTip that came in on Sept. 12. Miller said detectives identified the 17-year-old as the person who accessed child sexual abuse material and uploaded it to a cloud-based storage device.
Police executed a search warrant at a home in the 63300 block of Stonewood Drive Thursday around 3:10 p.m. and seized digital devices as evidence, Miller said.
The suspect was taken to Deschutes County juvenile detention on 65 counts each of first-degree and second-degree Encouraging Child Sex Abuse. His name has not been released.
Miller said the suspect worked 22 shifts as a safety monitor at Mountain Air Trampoline Park on Murray Road between February and November. He no longer works there. The dates and times the suspect worked at the trampoline park are listed below:
Anyone who believes their child may have experienced unwanted contact with the suspect is asked to call nonemergency dispatch at 541-693-6911. Reference case number 2024-00053829 and ask to speak with Det. Jared Wiebold.
