An indoor playground for babies and toddlers is opening this month in Boise’s North End.

Leap Years’ indoor play area will offer a variety of developmental activities tailored for families with children ages 0-5.

Co-owner Amanda Carvalho said the inspiration to open Leap Years stemmed from their daughter who at 2 years old didn’t have many indoor play options in Boise – especially when it snowed on her birthday.

“Leap Years is the first indoor play center in Boise tailored specifically for toddlers and young children. We are pioneering how play centers are designed, marrying aesthetic and function to provide an environment for children but with parents in mind,” co-owner Amanda Carvalho said. “Leap Years is designed to minimize the chaos of play centers and allow parents to enjoy themselves as much as their children.”

Families can choose between drop-in play sessions and memberships. Founding member discounted memberships are on sale now until the Leap Years’ grand opening. Other classes, special events, parent classes, and birthday parties are also available.

“While our focus is absolutely on infants to toddlers, Leap Years was also designed to be a relaxing safe haven for parents as well,” Carvalho said, “We know everyone can use a break and some peace of mind while your little one is having fun without getting run over by older children.”

Leap Years will also have a cafe offering snacks, drinks, and coffee.

“Parents have been reaching out very excited to finally have an indoor playground and event space near them,” Carvalho said. “Honestly, we are so happy that people have been so encouraging and enthusiastic about our mission.”

Leap Years will be open from 8 AM to 5 PM every day of the week, except Holidays. Private birthday parties after hours are also available to book from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM with exclusive access to the entire facility.

“Families can choose between drop-in play sessions and memberships,” Carvalho said. “While membership is not required for drop-in play, we recommend reserving a spot online.“

Leap Years is located at 1529 W. Washington Street in Boise.
