Worked 22 shifts as Mountain Air 'safety monitor'; police want to hear about any 'unwanted contact'
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – A male Bend 17-year-old who worked at a local trampoline park has been arrested on 130 counts of possessing child sex abuse material, police said Friday as they investigate whether there may be local victims associated with the case.
Thursday’s arrest stemmed from a “CyberTip” received Sept. 12 from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Bend Police Communications Manager Sheila Miller said. Detectives identified the 17-year-old as the person who accessed the material and uploaded it to a cloud-based storage device.
Police executed a search warrant shortly after 3 p.m. Thursday at a home in the 63300 block of Stonewood Drive in Bend, seizing digital devices as evidence, Miller said.
Detectives took the juvenile into custody and took him to the Deschutes County Juvenile Justice facility on 65 counts each of first- and second-degree encouraging child sex abuse.
“This investigation is ongoing,” Miller said in a news release, adding that “police are investigating whether there may be local victims associated with this case.”
Police said the teen worked 22 shifts as a safety monitor at Mountain Air Trampoline Park on Murray Road in Bend between February and November of this year.
"He is no longer employed by Mountain Air," Miller said, adding, "The trampoline park has assisted with this investigation, including by providing the dates and times the suspect worked at the location."
The dates and times that the suspect worked at the trampoline park are listed below:
If you believe your child may have experienced unwanted contact with this individual, police asked that you please contact nonemergency dispatch at 541-693-6911, reference case number 2024-00053829 and ask to speak with Det. Jared Wiebold.
Mountain Air owner Patrick Booher told NewsChannel 21 on Friday that police informed him that the investigation to this point has only found and alleged online activity involving the teen.
Booher also called it "unfortunate" that police did not take up the business's offer to provide contact information for all customers who were at the trampoline park on the days when the suspect worked there.
