VIRGINIA BEACH
A large indoor playground with climbing structures, multiple obstacle courses, and a "ninja warrior course" is planned for Virginia Beach.
The City Council will review a conditional-use permit for the proposed 26,300-square-foot facility at its April 5 meeting. The Planning Commission gave it a unanimous recommendation for approval in March.
The park will have ramps that lead to slides and several levels to explore, according to its application to the Planning Department. It will also have obstacle courses for older children, teens and adults.
The restaurant portion will include soft drinks and light meals, according to the application, and a seating area with 220 seats and tables in the center of the facility.
Funville Playground and Cafe, which would be at 4318 Holland Plaza Shopping Center, will have 10 full-time employees and the proposed hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
The space was previously occupied by a pet store.
