HERMISTON, Ore. – The City of Hermiston removed playground equipment at McKenzie Park on Tuesday following significant vandalism.

The equipment, designed for toddlers, had its plastic surfaces repeatedly vandalized. Additionally, repeated incidents of burning and melting posed hazards for kids, prompting the removal.

The city also decided to remove additional park equipment due to safety concerns.

Some of the removed equipment will be replaced, though funding is still being sought for the replacements. Hermiston officials are actively searching for funding opportunities to ensure the park can once again become a safe place for children to play.
